Penny’s flagship store of sustainability

The Observation

When German discounter Penny decided to design and develop theme-featured lighthouse stores, they turned to us for the development of immersive and unique interactive experiences.

The Solution Design

We delivered more than ten touch-points throughout the store, mostly interactive. From a large welcome screen to educational touch screens, partially mounted theme-matching into fridges (how to best store fresh produce), shelves (what is the impact of swindling bee and insect populations) or into garbage bins (how to avoid food waste), we made it all happen. We even installed a set of VR glasses in a submarine-simulated corner of the store, as if one looks through a periscope, allowing to watch an immersive 3D video about Penny's sustainable fishing policies.

The Result

As we were able to anonymously register all interactions, we saw which touch-point theme was close to the heart and mind of consumers. It allowed Penny to focus their communcation and marketing on those key topics and helped them to sustainably enhance their profile as a leading and socially engaged retail organisation.
