Immersive audio experience at o2

The Observation

Not for the first time, we were tasked by o2 Telefonica to develop an immersive and above all inuitive and engaging audio experience promoting a range of six headphones to choose from, arranged around a central tablet providing all relevant information about each device and allowing to select the favoured music style from a list of Napster songs.

The Solution Design

We came up with a uniquely intuitive solution, leaving it entirely to the customer where and how to start the journey. Selecting a device on the tablet, it would illuminate and start playing the first default title. Alternatively, the user could touch a button next to the device to start prompt the related content on the tablet and start the music stream. A third prominent and super intuitive way was to simply allow lifting the headphone up to trigger the rest. A tiny lift sensor would do the trick. We managed to combine sensing, audio streaming, antitheft-security and charging in only one single cable connected to the headphone which makes the entire setup look neat and lean.

The Result

Analyzing the interactions, it became apparent that the setup was extremely liked by the uers. Interesting insight: here haptics beat the digital journey: more than 60% of the customers started the experience by lifting up the headphones, followed by on-screen selection, and buttons ranking last.
